Coors Field World Series Ticket Giveaway (Update)
Filed under (Announcements) by Kevin @ 03:00 pm

Thanks to everyone who has already signed up for a chance to win Rockies World Series tickets!

There have been some fun and touching Rockies moments posted in new account profiles; I just wish I could give you all your own tickets. Here are some of my favorites so far:

  • gallmj2 tells of a years’ old heartache brought on by a missed Rockies opportunity in 3rd grade.
  • tphrenic tries to downplay the family dysfunction that happens when a Rockies fan’s 75-year-old father is a Red Sox fan.
  • denverSC remembers the crack of EY’s bat at the first game at Coors Field.
  • troutfisher gives a shout out to Purple Row, “the best Rockies blog around.”
  • davspo12’s shaky faith in God might just be restored by a couple of Rockies tickets.
  • houseofpayne actually authored an original Rockies haiku. Take that

I haven’t been able to read enough. But I will — even though it has nothing to do with the outcome of the drawing, I love hearing your Rockies moments and what they have meant to you over the years!

I just wanted a ticket to the World Series. 2-3 years ago I went to my frist every MLB game at Coors Field. What are the chances of your first game ever getting hit in the face with a 100mph line drive and your face and passed out self plaster on the jumbotron at Coors field, least that is what I am told. 50 stiches a broken nose and a jaw wired for 5 weeks. Rockies management called the next day to say they weren’t responsible. I did not get the ball that hit me someone took off with it. I said I would never go to a ballpark again. Decided to break that promise to go to the world seires and came up empty handed. BTW great site

PLEASE THINK OF MY STORY WHEN YOU GIVE OUT THE TICKETS. MY SON AND HIS STEPDAD HAVE BEEN GOING TO ALL ROCKIES GAMES FOR 3 YEARS, ALL WE CAN AFFORD ARE ROCKPILE TICKETS BECAUSE OF MY HUSBANDS BRAIN INJURY SINCE A CAR ACCIDENT. MY SON WILL LOVE TO GO AND HIS BIRTHDAY IS DECEMBER 1ST, AFTER ALL THE STRUGGLES WE’VE BEEN THROUGH THIS WILL BE A DREAM COME TRUE FOR MY FAMILY. IT WILL TAKE ALOT OF STRESS OFF MY TWO FAVORITE BOYS SHOULDERS, THE LADY WE ARE RENTING FROM DIDN’T MAKE THE PAYMENTS AND NOW THE HOUSE IS UNDER FORECLOSURE, SO I HAVE TO SAVE MY MONEY TO GET A NEW PLACE. PLEASE PICK US

I want to experience the atmosphere of a world series game and what better than to see it at Coor’s Field and cheer on the Rockies!

Westsider on October 25th, 2007 at 8:37 pm #

I was at Rockies game one in 1993. EY’s home run landed just below me. My grandsons are growing up on my knee first at Mile High then Coors Field. My youngest grandson and I have been to about 30 games this year, many on 2 for 1 Rockies Rookies Fan Club coupons. We got cheap tickets to all of the last weekend, not because we thought the hot Rockies would get in playoffs but because the season was about to end and we would miss going to baseball games. My grandson plays spring, summer and fall little leage baseball. When our two computers couldn’t get tickets after hours of trying on Monday and Tuesday he said “baseball has let me down; I don’t want to play it anymore”. WE are not high rollers, just fans. I am trying to buy tickets but can’t pay the crazy prices being asked. I just want to get my son and grandsons to a World Series game. It may never happen again. i grew up a Cubs Die Hard fan club member, my 83 year old blind mother likewise and we are both still waiting for a Cubs World Series. We both listen to all Rockies games and I attend with my grandson. We want to attend a W.S. mighty badly.

I love going to baseball games. I bought tickets to every home playoff game. My husband is a big Rockies fan since the inaugural season when he was in high school playing ball. We would love to go.

Rox fan since the beginning; soured on MLB through the steriod era, but when I started following this team closely again three years ago it was for one reason, a group of young guys with a passion for the game, and respect for the game. An absolute pleasure to watch, even when success did not come until 2007. The recent run is just the icing. These men truely honor our national pastime every time they take the field. Would like to take my dad to a World Series game.

My best chance of getting some tickets without spending my next 2 paychecks to cross off one of those life dreams…..seeing your team play in the World Series LIVE!!!

Jeff K on October 25th, 2007 at 11:39 pm #

I have been a diehard Redsox fan for 39 years born in NY! Have hated the Yankees and could never afford to go to a postseason game. Became quite ill this summer and the Redsox were the only thing keeping me going. Must admit, however, the Rockies cinderella story plus my recent residence- 5 years now- and love of Colorado have me almost split and confused in my allegiance, but would love to see both teams once in my life

all the best Jeff

Monique on October 26th, 2007 at 9:16 am #

I am VERY interested in the tickets you have. I had 5 computers going at the same time to try and get some tickets for my dad and I. My dad has been a die hard Colorado fan for all Colorado sports teams his whole life. He has always been a fan regardless of the teams having a winning season or a losing season. He has never given up on his teams. I appreciate you stating that you would like to hear of a person’s personal situation because that really shows you are a person with integrity which is so hard to find these days.
Let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Monique, I am 23, and I work for the Littleton Housing Authority which assists people of low income get rental assistance. I am also a student at ACC, where I am working towards a degree in business. I am really close to my family and my dad and I have been going to games since I can remember. My dad actually has two rooms in their house devoted to the Denver Bronco’s, Colorado Rockies, Denver Nuggets, and Colorado Avalanche. Some of the best memories of my childhood were going to the games with my dad. I am a very fortunate person to have a father that likes to spend time together. They always tell me I am a miracle child because my mother actually lost my brother at birth and continued to try to have a child. My Mom lost 11 other pregnancies before I was born so when I say my parents really love me that is an understatement.
My dad was recently laid off from his job of 20 years. This has been a life-changing event for us all. We have never had to face such difficulties. I think the hardest part is watching him struggle not knowing where to turn because he has always been employed and he is completely at a loss right now. It came as a shock with no warning two weeks before my parents were set to purchase their first home. My father is the head of household. He supports my mother who has MS, she is unable to work because her MS has become severe over the last 12 years. She is a wonderful lady that never feels sorry for herself and continues to pack me a lunch even though I no longer live there!
My mother has not been doing well with her MS this month and has to do a steroid drip everyday to try and regain the feeling in her hands and legs. MS is a horrible disease and my dad has really been struggling because it kills him to watch her go through all the pain and suffering that comes with it. Going to the game would be an experience that my parents would never forget! My mom really wants to see my dad and I go because honestly, she is worried about him as he has become so depressed. I want nothing more than to give back to my parents for everything they have done for me. That is why I have been trying so hard to get tickets to even one game. We can’t afford to pay thousands of dollars, as they are financially drained and really wondering where the next meal is coming from. I make a modest income but I have been helping them as much as possible these days. To be able to tell my dad that I was able to get tickets would be the best present I could ever give him, as the last few months have been so difficult for them.
I realize everyone has a situation and problems. Believe me, working in the Housing Authority I hear it all. I am just one person trying to do a good thing for the people that mean the most to me. Also, when you work in housing you become aware that people will tell you absolutely anything to get what they want. Before you decide to award the tickets to anyone you may consider asking people for proof of their situation because unfortunately people are not always honest. I would be willing to fax you proof of everything I have just told you.
I really thank you for taking the time to read this and I really do hope you consider us. Whoever you award the tickets to I understand. You are doing a good thing by looking into the reasons people want to go. I would love the opportunity to e-mail you pic.s of my dad and I at the Rockies World Series!!!!!!!!!!!
